I would like to start this review by saying a big thank you to Dean and the team at Latest in Beauty for the continued collaboration with us- we really are grateful!
Latest in Beauty are one of the top subscription services around and it is easy to see why- you get to choose what items you want in your box from a large selection, meaning you know exactly what you are getting and that it will be right for you! Every month has a different theme and a new item is made available at midnight every night- you have to be quick to snap some of them up! They also do collaboration boxes and limited edition edits too, so it is always worth keeping an eye on their website and socials (linked below)!
As always, I unboxed this live on our Facebook group and you can catch that here now:
December’s theme was ‘Beauty from Home- The Festive Edit’ and as always, there was a great selection of items to choose from. These were my picks:
As always, I tried to select only cruelty free items based off my research before making my choices. There was also a little extra freebie that they are including in every box this month- but more on that later!
The first item I chose was MuruMuru Restoring Hair Mask by Natura (RRP £25.14). This combines pure Amazonian ingredients with ground-breaking cosmetic technology. It has a new formulation designed to restore the health of the deeper layers of hair to leave the hair more resistant to breakage. Packed with luscious Brazilian murumuru butter to restore hair health to the deepest layers, the mask provides shine, and improved elasticity to help repair dry, damaged or over-processed hair. This tub is huge and the smell is unbelievable! I have a lot of hair and so I like to use hair masks and treatments at least once a week to keep in top condition. I am really impressed with this mask, my hair felt light, soft and looked so shiny! I will definitely keep using it!
My next pick was an item I have used many times and absolutely loved, so it was a no brainer for me to add it to my box! Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair (RRP £26). This is a leave in treatment with 98% naturally derived ingredients. The plant-powered formula contains quinoa, which is a complete protein revered as the “mother grain” by the Incas, soy-derived oil to help nourish, and macadamia oil to help smooth strands so your hair looks and feels healthier than ever. It is designed to repair the look of hair and protect from heat styling. It also detangles and protects from breakage, which can be an issue for me as my hair is long and can get very tangled and dry at the ends. I wasn’t expecting this to be full sized, which was a nice surprise! I absolutely love this product, I have used it a few times in the past and it really suits my hair, which is all I am looking for in a product!
My next pick was Sukin Blemish Control Clearing Facial Wash (RRP around £2 based on full size). This is a is a lightweight gel cleanser that combines Eucalyptus, antibacterial Tea Tree & antioxidant rich Pomegranate to purify skin while removing dirt, makeup and other environmental pollutants. Eucalyptus helps to reduce blemish causing bacteria on the skin and reduce the appearance of redness associated with breakouts, which is just as important. I love Sukin products, they are really affordable and my skin seems to like them. I don’t tend to suffer from spots however I had a bad reaction to some medication I was put on earlier this year which left my skin in terrible condition. This is now clearing up but I like to have items like this on standby for that time of the month where I can get the odd blemish or when my skin is a bit stressed out.
Pick number 4 was another brand I have used before- Inika Radiant Glow (RRP around £5 based on full size). This is a light, highly nourishing priming skin veil that creates the perfect, glowing base. It is organic, vegan, cruelty free, fragrance free, gluten free and soy free. Using light reflective technology and a curated blend of botanical ingredients, this multi-tasking primer leaves skin silky smooth with a dewy, satin-like finish. It is a multi use marvel, as it can be used as a primer, a moisturiser and an illuminator. I have used their primers before and been really impressed so I thought I would give this one a try- I will keep you posted as to how I get on with this one!
Number 5 was something a little bit fun and different- Eye Candy Out of the Darkness False Lashes Phoenix (RRP around £1.95). These are high quality, include the glue and are a wispy texture with a foxy orange accent on the outer corners- definitely different to any other falsies I own. I do like to wear false lashes for special occasions and also in between having lash extensions to let my natural lashes have a break. These are so cute and really affordable- there are a few different ones so I may have to get a few others as they are limited edition!
My final pick was a brand I haven’t had chance to try until now, who were also the haul of fame item for the month! Zoeva Spice of Life Highlighter Face Palette (RRP £13.00). This is a captivating highlighter duo that delivers instant radiance in one easy stroke. The colours are stunning- as is the packaging it comes in? The pinkish highlighter will make your cheeks pop, while the complementary gold highlighter will accent your features like never before. These shades are designed to suit all skin tones and I cannot wait to have a play around with them. I am making it my mission to get better with my makeup, so this will definitely help with that!
Finally, there was a little extra freebie included- one of two items from Look Good Feel Better, who are an international cancer support charity that helps to boost the physical and emotional wellbeing of those undergoing cancer treatment- an amazing cause, I am sure you agree! The items were either a beauty blender or an eyeliner brush, of which I received the eyeliner brush (RRP £4.49). Each precision cut brush has been hand-made using super soft taklon bristles, making them allergy free, cruelty free and suitable for sensitive skin. I don’t actually wear eyeliner, mainly because I am terrible at applying it, but as I mentioned, I am wanting to get better at makeup so maybe this will help me master it!
So the total RRP of my box is around £77.58!
Latest in Beauty have recently changed up their pricing and subscription structure, so it is now as follows:
- 6 products (of your choice) per month for £12.95 + £3.95 delivery.
You can cancel this at any time. You have full control over the items you receive and there is no minimum subscription commitment. The day you create your first edit will be the day that your subscription renews every month and you have 30 days in which to make your selections- you can also create an extra box every month before your renewal date for the same price as your monthly subscription, so you never miss out on the products that you want to try.
They also recently announced some more changes in the introduction of The Beauty Counter, starting January 4th. This means they will be replacing the daily star product drops in favour of weekly product drops every monday- this means instant access to fewer, more exciting products and no waiting around for one particular item to drop. It does sound like this will make the process much easier, so I am looking forward to seeing how this all works come January!
I absolutely love my selections this month- even though I knew what I was getting, it is still a nice little treat for myself and no nasty surprises- I also love that they included a little freebie too. How many of you have been sent a shade that doesn’t suit you or a product that is not suited to your skin type in a subscription box? I know I have! That is why Latest in Beauty is so great- you are in control! There is always loads to choose from and a great selection of items across categories such as skincare, make up, body care, haircare and tools, so there is always something for everyone!
