Latest in Beauty Review by Gemma- June 2020

This is now the fifth time I have been lucky enough to review this for BoXession and hopefully not the last either!

If you are not familiar with Latest In Beauty, they are a box for those who like to know what they are getting every month, as you get to choose your items. They also have limited edition collections with different brands and collections of their best sellers too!

The box came via royal mail, wrapped in an outer postage bag to protect the box inside.

This month’s theme is ‘Hot Right Now’.

If you missed my unboxing of this box, you can catch it here on our YouTube channel (and subscribe if you haven’t already!):

Onto the contents then! I chose 6 items for this box (I will discuss the different options and prices shortly) and tried to choose all cruelty free items too.

The first item was from a brand I have heard good things about but have yet to try myself- Josh Wood Colour Dry Shampoo (RRP £12). This was the blonde version; however, you can get other colours too! This helps you to revitalise your colour and is the perfect quick fix pick me up to keep your hair looking fresh. You can pop it in your bag, your drawer at work, your bedside table- basically anywhere, so that you always have a spritz handy when you need it! I was impressed with the size and the fact that this didn’t leave the white powder in my hair after I sprayed it, which a lot of the more common brands do!

The second item was a brand I have tried once before and was quite impressed- Vita Liberata Body Blur (RRP £14.99 approx). This was in the shade Latte. It is the ultimate skin finish that instantly blurs imperfections and leaves skin looking flawless and glowing. You can wash it off easily so it is perfect for last minute application if you have an important event to get to or for a nice evening look!

Item number 3 is another new brand for me- Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Cleanser (RRP £12.00 approx). This was a really decent sized tube and the formula helps to deeply cleanse and remove impurities thanks to the clarifying properties of certified organic lemon, cherry and aloe juices. I am quite lucky that I generally have good skin, however around that time of the month, or when I am particularly stressed, I can have the odd breakout, which this will be perfect for! I like that it uses organic ingredients too, as I like to know that the products I use won’t harm the environment once it goes down my plughole!

The fourth item is a brand I have not tried before- Lash Factor Growth Serum (RRP £20). This is a serum free solution with a patented applicator that promises to give you longer, fuller and darker lashes and brows in just 4 weeks! It has been developed by a team of specialised cosmetic researchers and has been ophthalmologically tested to ensure safety. I have used similar products in the past but have been a little underwhelmed by the results, so I am hoping this one fares better! It is too soon to tell but I will keep you all posted on the Boxession group!

The fifth item is one of my new favourite haircare brands- Hask Purifying Deep Conditioner with Charcoal and Citrus sachet (RRP £2.99). This helps to quench thirsty hair and bring life back to your locks with its ultra-restorative formula. I have quite the collection of these masks building, I absolutely love them and they greatly benefit my hair. I have a lot of it and it can become quite dry and frazzled, especially on the ends, so I like to treat it once a week to a deeper treatment. I have tried a few of their deep conditioners/masks already and have loved each one. They make my hair feel soft, smooth and shiny, as well as looking healthy and lightweight!

The sixth item is Patchology Moodpatch Lip Patch (RRP £2.80). This helps to lock in moisture, banish dryness and soothe irritation of the lips. It contains calming Sweet Violet and Lavender Petal Tea plus nourishing Coconut extract to take your lips from parches to soft, full and pretty in no time. I have used some of their under eye patches and really liked them, so I wanted to give this a go. I have used similar lip masks in the past and despite looking a little silly while you have them on, I found that they were really nourishing and helped to keep my lips looking in good condition. I can struggle with dry lips and the occasional cold sore, so I am hoping this will keep that at bay!

So I managed to get 6 items, with a total retail price of approximately £64.78!

The prices:

So with this box, you have 3 different options:

  • Beauty Novice- 3 items £9 per month or £16 for a one off box.
  • Beauty Enthusiast- 6 items £15 per month or £22 for a one off box.
  • Beauty Guru- 9 items £18 per month or £25 for a one off box.

All boxes come with free postage and packaging. It is also a really flexible subscription, as you can change which price option you have each month, so if you wanted to have the 3 item box one month and the 9 item box the next, you can chop and change to suit you!

My Verdict

I love the concept of this box- you know exactly what you are getting and will never be disappointed with it. There is a new item added every day at midnight so there is always loads to choose from and I had trouble only choosing 6! Once things go out of stock, they are gone, so you need to be fast! I also have to say how quickly it arrived after I had ordered too- a matter of days! There are definitely savings to be had here, as a couple of the items I chose were worth more than the box costs! I also love that there is also a mix of items, so there are make up, skincare, body care, haircare, tools and also things like vitamin drinks and feminine hygiene too! Something for everyone with this one!
