The Cruelty Free Beauty Box Review by Gemma – July 2019

I would just like to say a big thank you to Chloe from The Cruelty Free Beauty Box for sending this amazing box out to me to review.

As many of you who are regulars of this group will know, I only use cruelty free products and have done for a while now. The reviewing of this box usually goes to Mel, but she has a lot going on this month and asked me to do it instead, which I was more than happy to oblige- I love this box! They have recently revamped all their boxes and prices, which we will go through shortly but first- the unboxing!

If you missed me unboxing this on our facebook page, you can catch it here now on our Youtube channel (and subscribe if you aren’t already!):

This box came via royal mail and is not letter box friendly, so you will need to be in. There is no postage bag, as they are doing their best to reduce packaging and be more eco friendly, which I applaud, so the outer box is the only box. All boxes are personalised, including options for no make up, no nail products etc and in the deluxe box, which is what I have, you can choose a make up or no make up option.

They donate 10% of their profits to a different charity every month, 1 tree is planted in Borneo for every 5 boxes sold and all the packaging is eco friendly, including the inserts, which are printed on seed paper which can then be planted! Each box is also sealed with an eco friendly sticker and the zigzag paper inside is recyclable, biodegradable and dyed with vegetable inks!

So what was inside this box of kindness? Feast your eyes on this:

Amazing right?!

So, what are the items and what did I make of them?

The first item is a new brand for me, which is an instant win! Bumi Face Polish with Juniperberry, Sage, Hemp and Volcanic Ash in 15ml (RRP £9- other sizes are available). This smells beautiful! Juniperberry and Sage essential oils are known for their cleansing and purifying effects due to their antiseptic and calming properties. Fine Bamboo and Volcanic Ash help with gentle exfoliation to eliminate dirt and dead skin cells whilst Hemp Oil leaves skin soft to the touch. This is suitable for all skin types. I have not yet used this, as I don’t like having too many products open at once, but as soon as my current face polish is empty, I will be straight onto this one- and I have very high hopes too!

The second item was a brand I adore- and a full size item too! PHB Ethical Beauty Bio Gel ‘Skin Brightener’ (RRP £25). This contains Aloe Vera, the holy grail in skincare right now, with Neroli, Immortelle and Licorice for a radiance boosting and regenerative formula. It is rich in essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients to brighten dark areas and target areas of discolouration to leave skin glowing and even. Aloe Vera is known for its cooling and soothing properties, as well as its hydration qualities. Licorice targets melanin production and helps to reduce and prevent pigmentation. This item is perfect for all skin types, especially skin that has been out in the sun! I absolutely adore everything about this product, the packaging is to die for and the formula is so easy to apply, sinks into the skin and doesn’t feel greasy afterwards. Winner!

The next item is another new brand for me- Articka Nourishing Hair Oil 10ml (RRP £4.95- other sizes available). This is highly concentrated and is the perfect treatment to nourish the hair without weighing it down. It contains fatty acids and vitamins to provide ample hydration to give hair a natural looking shine and softer texture. It comes in a rollerball applicator, preventing spillages! You simply roll onto your palms and apply to the hair. This would be perfect for on the go- I have just booked a holiday to Dubrovnik and this will be perfect to take with me! I love hair oils, as you can see by the video above, I have a lot of hair and it can be difficult to manage!

Item number 4 now, and another brand I adore- Sknfed Espresso Body Butter Bar 60g (RRP £7.95 other sizes available). The bars are all handmade from scratch! They are solid bars and are a multitasking marvel! They exfoliate the skin, whilst also deeply moisturising and nourishing to leave it super soft. This is another item that would be perfect to take on holiday! You take it into the bath or shower with you and apply to wet skin. I have a lot of their products, including the chocolate cleansing bar for the face, which is one of my favourite items around at the minute, so I am delighted to get to try this now too. Another one for my luggage!

Item number 5 and yet another new brand- I am loving this! Love Byrd Hippy Dippy Facial Serum (RRP 18). This is another rollerball applicator, which prevents spillages if you are clumsy like me! It contains Sweet Almond Oil, which has a multitude of benefits thanks to the amounts of monounsaturated fatty acids, vitamin e, potassium, proteins, zinc and a number of other vitamins and minerals, which all help to aid in smooth and flawless skin. Frankincense and Myrrh Oil are known to be uplifting and clarifying for the mind and body. I may have to take this on holiday with me too- I am going to have the best skin in Croatia at this rate! I absolutely love this, after trying it only a couple of times, it definitely suits my skin and it feels so much healthier!

Item number 6 is one I cannot wait to use- Bain and Savon Peony Salt Scrub Foot Bar (RRP £1.50). This smells amazing- I haven’t even used it yet and my whole bathroom smells of it! It has a beautiful blend of fresh flower petals, sea salt, organic cocoa butter and organic coconut oil to polish and smooth the rough skin on our feet. The salts dissolve in the bath or shower once their exfoliating job is done, whilst the oils and butters stay behind to seal in moisture to leave skin soft and smooth. This came loose in the box, with no packaging, so it was a little battered but still perfectly usable and beautiful. I will be using this on my next pamper morning!

Item number 7 is a beautiful Handmade Turkish Towel (RRP £14.95). This is made from 100% cotton and is biodegradable and eco friendly. It has a multitude of uses, such as a beach towel, scarf, wrap, throw, picnic blanket- the list is endless! It is a beautiful item and one that I will definitely find a use for! Definitely something a little different to receive in a box- in a good way, of course!

Item number 8 is from a food brand called Soffle and they are Rosemary and Thyme Pitta Chips (RRP £1). These are oven roasted and a perfect healthy snack. They are literally pitta chips with rosemary, thyme and olive oil, so nothing artificial or bad for you! Perfect snack for on the go!

Item number 9 got me SO excited! Ananda’s Round Ups Giant Wagon Wheel (RRP £3). This is an indulgent snack with vanilla marshmallow sandwiched between two handmade chocolate biscuits, a dollop of strawberry jam and covered in vegan Belgian chocolate! Who else is drooling? This didn’t last long after the picture was taken- it was beautiful. I am now sourcing more!

Now, the next two items are from the make up and no make up options, you will choose which of these options you want and receive the corresponding item.

If you choose the make up option, you will receive an amazing Red Lip Gloss from Phase Zero (RRP £12). This has a long lasting formula, a highly pigmented colour and a high shine finish. Who doesn’t love a red lip?

If you choose the no make up option, you will receive the 10 Minute Mask from Sknfed (RRP £14). This is the perfect mask for a quick pamper session as it only takes 10 minutes to work! This left me with healthy, smoother, fresher and more nourished skin, with a brighter look. You don’t need a lot either, so it will last a while! It gently removes impurities while you relax for 10 minutes!

The total RRP for this box is a whopping £111.35!
