Crate British Review by Gemma – July 2019

First of all, I would just like to say a big thank you to Tim and the rest of the team at Crate British for sending this box to review!

For anyone who is unfamiliar with Crate British, they are a British candy box subscription that offers british candy and snacks to your door. This makes it perfect for people who live abroad or for those of you who may have friends or family from other countries who want a taste of Britain! I also think it is perfect for a little treat for yourself too, as who doesn’t love a box full of tasty treats?!

I will go through the prices in a little while, but first, let’s get into the review! If you missed me unboxing this live on our facebook group, then you can catch it here on our YouTube channel (and subscribe to us if you haven’t already):

This box came via royal mail in a box adorned with the logo so there I no mistaking what it is! I was super excited to get into it and see what treats awaited me inside. And look!

It is like my childhood in a box! I feel like a kid again, I was so excited to tear everything open and devour it all!

The first thing I spied made my eyes light up- Mini Party Rings! I love Party rings; I could easily eat a full pack of the full sized ones so these are perfect to take to work with me. They are so cute and such a sweet treat!

The second thing I saw was like a blast from the past- Picked Onion Space Raiders! I haven’t had these for years! I had these as I was typing this review and was reminded of just how much I loved these as a child- I may have to source some more!

The third thing was actually an item I have never seen before- Cadburys Break Bar. I took this with me to work and had it between clients- it was a chocolatey biscuit with chocolate in the middle. Very tasty, hit the spot and just a nice little treat.

The fourth item is another one that made my eyes light up- Jammie Dodgers Jam and Yoghurt Snacks. These are SO good! Two biscuits in the packet, with Jam and vanilla yoghurt inside. Chewy, full of flavour and hit my sweet tooth.

The fifth item was a packet of Millions in a Vimto flavour. I love these little sweets but again, I haven’t had these for ages! I am a fan of vimto and used to drink it a lot as a child, so these are a welcome addition to my little sweet box that I dip into every so often.

The sixth item was something I have never seen before- Tango Sour Blast Balls. These are mini gobstoppers in a few different flavours. I have to say, even though I have a sweet tooth, I love sour things too. These are amazing- so, so tangy and sour and just delicious. I shared them with my family, as I am not a fan of orange flavour but I loved the other flavours.

The seventh item was something I used to have all the time as a kid- a Candy Necklace! This is such a blast from the past- I didn’t even know you could still get these! I am going to save this for my next treat, as I was so excited to see this in the box.

The eighth item was interesting- a mystery bag of pick n mix. You get one of every month apparently. These were Choc Nibbles, described on the packet as ‘nobbly nibbles with real milk chocolate, caramel and dusted with icing sugar’. Yes, totally my thing! You get a good amount too; the bag was pretty heavy. It even comes in a proper pick n mix bag- I love this!

The ninth item was a full size bar of Cadburys Dairy Milk in Raspberry Shortcake. This is a potential new flavour, along with 2 others and the public are asked to try them all and vote for their favourite to become a permanent flavour. I love Raspberry Shortcake and I love chocolate so I cannot go wrong with this! It is a perfect balance of the 2 flavours and it definitely has my vote!

The last item made me giggle with glee- Drumstick Choos! I love a drumstick lolly and this is a full bag of the sweets, with 5 different flavours! I am going to share these with my family on our next movie day!

My verdict

I absolutely loved this- I felt like a kid again, growing up in the 90’s without a care in the world except what my next snack was going to be. I got quite nostalgic looking through the box and had a thoroughly good time eating everything! I generally eat pretty healthy, but we all deserve a treat every now and then! This is also perfect to gift for ex pats living abroad to remind them of home or people from other countries who want to sample British food!
