First of all, I would just like to send a huge thank you to Nathan and the team over at NEAT nutrition for sending this over for me to review.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with NEAT nutrition, they are a premium whey and vegan protein subscription service. It was set up by 2 former GB Swimmers, Lee and Charlie, who believe that their no-nonsense approach helps to keep things simple for you. All ingredients are natural and well sourced, so you can be sure of both quality and taste!
As Boxession’s resident fitness fanatic, I was chosen to be the one to review this, and perfect timing too, as I was running low on supplies!
If you missed me unboxing this on our Facebook group, you can catch it here on our YouTube channel:
So what was inside? This box comes via royal mail and the outer box is all the packaging it comes in- no box in a box with this company! It also has the website and social handles on the packaging- free advertising!
The box they sent me was the Starter Box (I will discuss prices a little later) and this is what I found:
Everything I need to give them a go and up my fitness routine! I have just started a new 6-week regime, so this is the perfect excuse to try these out!
The first thing I took out were the little leaflets inside- one was a recipe for Apple Pie Oats- 2 of my favourite things, so I will definitely be giving this a try! The others explained how the service works and also a little introductory booklet, which I thought was a nice touch!
Then I took out the shaker. This is a really good size and even has the little mixer ball included too, which helps to stop your protein powder from clumping and helps it to dissolve easier. This also feels really durable and is perfect for throwing in your gym bag to use later. I tend to drink my protein drinks after a workout to help replenish my muscles, so this will be perfect to use for that!
Then there were the protein powders themselves. As this was a starter pack, I got one of each type that they offer so that I can try them all! There were 2 vegan and 2 whey protein sachets, 2 chocolate and 2 vanilla bean flavours.
The vegan protein powders came in green sachets and are made from Pea and Hemp. They are registered as both vegan and vegetarian, so if you are either of those, you can use these with peace of mind! There was a chocolate flavour, which had 25g of protein and 130 calories and a vanilla bean flavour, which had 26g of protein and 130 calories. Each 35g sachet is one serving. They also came in easy to open sachets- no scissors needed! I used the vanilla one of these and wasn’t sure what to expect, as I don’t really use vegan protein powder but I was pleasantly surprised. It mixed well and tasted lovely!
The Whey protein powders came in black sachets and are gluten and soy free. These are also vegetarian friendly! Again, there was a chocolate flavour, with 21g of protein and 100 calories and a vanilla bean flavour with 22g of protein and 110 calories. Again, in the easy to open sachets and 35g serving size- perfect for on the go! I used the chocolate one of these and absolutely loved it- it was like a naughty treat without the naughtiness!
There are a couple of options here:
- The Starter Box, which is what I had, is only £4.95 with free delivery!
- The Ongoing Plan is £20 for 12 sachets. You can choose vegan, whey or a mixture of both. You can also choose the flavours and frequency of deliveries. Shipping is free too!
As a gym goer, part time personal trainer and full time exercise lover, I was so impressed by this box. The way that you can customise the box completely to you and that they offer a starter box is such a good idea, as it means you know exactly what you are getting and will never be disappointed. The powders mix well and taste great- I hate those powders that have a gritty texture and synthetic taste but you don’t get that with NEAT, which I think is down to the natural ingredients. I love that they put in the research so that you don’t have to- you can just sit back and relax in the knowledge that they have got you sorted! If you have any fitness goals to work towards, are thinking of joining a gym or just want to be a little healthier with your lifestyle choices, I highly recommend giving this service a go!
