First of all, I would like to say a huge thank you to Ian and the Team at Book and a Brew for sending me this box to review!
I love to read and sometimes don’t make as much time for it as I could, so I was really excited to be given the opportunity to review this!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Book and a Brew, they are a monthly subscription box for book lovers! You receive a mystery, handpicked book and a tasty brew to enjoy it with!
If you missed my unboxing on our Facebook group, then you can catch it here on YouTube (and subscribe if you haven’t already!):
The box itself is larger than your letterbox, so you will need to be in to receive it. Look how cute the design is though! No mistaking what this box is about! Self-advertising at its best!
Now onto the best bit- the contents!
The tea this month was from Leaves of the World and was a magical blend of Moringa Organic Green Tea. I absolutely love green tea and from reading the ingredients of this- apple, blackberry leaves, lemongrass, nettle leaves, sea buckthorn peel, moringa, sage leaves, chamomile blossom, mango, cornflower blossom, matcha and bergamot- it sounded divine! I couldn’t wait to get snuggled up with a steaming mug of this, and the book! I came in a reseal able bag and there was more than enough for a few cups! I really didn’t know what to expect from this tea but I loved the flavour combinations- it just worked so well!
Also included (and hugely welcomed!) was a pack of 12 Bio-degradable fold over bags to use with the tea- you simply fill it with tea and then pop it in your cup to infuse! These can be used a couple of times and can be composted afterwards! Winner! These were also by Leaves of the World and I think they are a great idea. Anything that helps me reduce my waste and impact on the planet is ok in my eyes!
And so to the book. As soon as I unwrapped this from the tissue paper I knew I would love it- look at the artwork on the cover! It draws you in straight away- and the page edges are red too! The simple things please me, what can I say? The book is called The Martian Girl: A London Mystery by Andrew Martin. I have never heard of him before, but that I what I love about this kind of subscription- new discoveries!
The description of the book went as follows:
‘Jean, a failing journalist in her late thirties, finds herself entertaining a married man- a handsome, arrogant ex barrister, universally known by his surname: Coates. Unsure of the relationship and wanting to develop her career, she begins to write a one- woman show about a mind reader she comes across in her research- a woman who performed in the 19th century under the name The Martian Girl, before disappearing without a trace.
As Jean makes progress on her show, The Martian Girl- long since dead- begins to consume her thoughts… why does Jean feel such an intense bond with her? As the line between them begins to blur, the fates of two women are destined to transcend time, and finally to intersect.’
I was immediately intrigued by this blurb and couldn’t wait to start reading it. I was immediately hooked, pulled in by the twists and turns and fascinated with The Martian Girl and what happened to her. Jean is a likeable character that I think a lot of people could identify with- falling for the wrong man, wanting to do well in her career, becoming fascinated with someone she resonates with. I am not quite finished with it yet but I am absolutely loving the book so far and it has had me not wanting to put it down several times now!
This box is available on a monthly rolling subscription for just £12.99 per month! There are also gift subscriptions available, with the pricing ranging from £14.99 for one month up to £155.88 for 12 months.

Boxes are shipped between the 15th and the 18th of the month.
I love to read, and this box reminded me of that- and that I should take the time to read more often like I used to! The book could have been written for me- I loved all the twists and turns. I really like a book that keeps you guessing- psychological thrillers are my favourite genre and this is such an amazing read so far. Teamed with the tea, I had such a relaxing time and created my own little bubble while I was immersed in the story. I loved the artwork on the book too, and the red page edges. The tea was a new venture for me but I was pleasantly surprised by it- I am not always a fan of the floral teas but this was really light and refreshing.
