My Happy Place Box March 2019 by Gemma

First off, I would just like to say a huge thank you to Catherine, founder of My Happy Place Box, for sending me this box to review!

For those of you who are not familiar with them, they are a subscription box for the modern woman in search of me time. Each month, the box explores the beliefs and philosophies of a different destination to help you balance style and substance to create your happy place!

I love this concept- I think we all (myself included) forget how important ‘me time’ actually is and probably don’t make as much time for it as we should! Everything about this box screams luxury- from the beautiful outer box itself (just look at it!) to the contents within! It also comes in a postage bag to protect the box.

If you missed me unboxing this on our facebook page, you can catch it here on our YouTube channel now (and subscribe if you haven’t already!):

I was so excited to dive in and discover what destination I would be ‘travelling’ to for my me time this month and I was not disappointed! This month’s destination is Brazil! There was also a lovely personalised note from Catherine, which I thought was such a nice addition- I love the personal touch!

One thing that sets this box apart from others is that it comes with a 30-page magazine detailing the items inside and loads of fun facts, information and interesting articles about the destination in question! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and it has made me want to visit Brazil even more now! There were also ideas for how to reuse the beautiful box and a spoiler for the next destination!

Once I had peeled back the gold tissue paper that stood between me and my goodies, I found all this:

I am amazed! So I’ll dive straight in to give you the lowdown on the contents!

The first thing that I noticed (as it was on the top!) was a cute and quirky cotton tote bag with the positive affirmation ‘Whatever makes you happy-just do that’ printed on it in red writing, to make it stand out from the white background with blue horizontal stripes running across it. This bag is such a good size to take shopping with you (or to the beach in Brazil!) and is a sustainable and stylish alternative to the environments number 1 enemy- the plastic bag! I also love that it has such a positive slogan on it- designed to make you smile every time you read it! It definitely helps to remind me to stay positive!

The second item was edible- although not for me, as it was an alcohol infused chocolate bar. I am teetotal and so will not be able to eat this, however one of the amazing things about subscription boxes is that you can gift things on to a more suitable owner if something is not quite right for you! That is what I am going to do with this- it is said to be a tasty caipirinha flavour and I am sure the person I have in mind will absolutely love this!

The third item is definitely for me! It was the biggest bath fizzer I have ever seen, with a gorgeous lemon and lime scent that I could smell through the packaging! What is me time without a fragrant and relaxing bath? I am house sitting for my mum in a couple of weeks, and she has a lovely big bath, so I am going to take this with me to enjoy there! If you wanted to, you could probably cut this into smaller pieces to use more than once, or just chuck it all in for an extra fizzy experience! Who needs a Jacuzzi?

The next item was in a cute little box which told me it was jewellery. I was correct- and very happy! This little box, which in itself was adorable with its sparkly silver bow, contained a stylish, golden necklace with a lovely feather design! Such a unique piece, and it fits in with the theme perfectly! Brazil is known for its colourful carnivals, where the dancers can often be seen adorned with feathers and other items. I love this!

The final item (or should that be items?) was wrapped up in its own little bit of gold tissue paper and when I unwrapped it, I could see why! There were 2 utterly stunning Agate coasters, purple in colour with a golden rim. Purple is my absolute favourite colour and these are far too pretty to use as coasters! I have a lot of purple items in my flat so these will fit in perfectly with my interior.

There was also a little booklet detailing more about the company and previous boxes- which made me want them all!

The prices:

A monthly subscription is priced at £25 per month with free shipping. You can also buy previous boxes for £25 each on the website too, with destinations like Bali, Morocco, China and Japan.

A 3-month subscription costs £72 again with free shipping.

A 6-month subscription costs £140 with free shipping

A 12-month subscription costs £280 with free shipping.

Boxes are dispatched on the 10th of the month for monthly subscriptions and will each contain 5 luxury items and a 30-page magazine. They deliver to the UK and most European countries currently.

It is impossible for me to put an estimated value on the items in this box, but I don’t think that is what this box is about. Who can put a price on me time? It is invaluable and priceless.

My verdict.

Where do I sign up? I absolutely adored this box and am so happy I was the one who was chosen to unbox it. I always try and make time for myself, as a psychologist it is something I am always telling my clients to do, so I need to practice what I preach! I also adore travelling and have a bucket list of places I want to visit, so this box allows me to experience a bit more of the world whilst relaxing and taking time for me. I think this concept is unique and I love it!
