Toppbox Review by Nazia & Darren – February 2019

My wife Nazia has an obsession with subscription boxes, and the amount of boxes that arrive each month can get a little crazy! I think she felt guilty with all the boxes she was getting so she promised to sign me up to a box of my own. She showed me the different options available for men and the one that stood out most was Toppbox. It fits the bill of exactly what I was looking for and I’ve been getting them for over a year now. I’ve never recieved repeat items and a lot of the products and brands are ones I wouldn’t necessarily think to buy but it’s been a pleasure trying them all and I’ve found a few favourites too. My wife also likes somes of the products I’ve received in previous boxs and has tried on many occasions to sneak them out, so the guys at Toppbox must be doing something right! So, I’d like to say a big thank you to Alham for sending this box to review.

If you missed my wife and I unboxing Toppbox live on Facebook, you can catch it here on the BoXession YouTube channel:

What did I think?

The items are packaged in a small black recyclable box that has the Toppbox logo printed on the top and the social media handles along the sides. Inside I found…

MONU Men’s Vital Eye Gel

A blend of Aloe Vera and Arnica guarantees to reduce puffiness and dark circles whilst added Siberian Ginseng and Marine Magnesium ensure skin feels toned and tightened.

Nazia tells me I need to do something about my under eyes so this was the perfect product for me to start with from this box. It was quick and easy to apply with a quick press of the pump a little goes a long way, I could feel a slight tingling when applying it and my skin felt tighter. I have been using it the past week regularly and have already noticead an improvement in my under eyes, I will need to keep a look out for some more.

Bullet & Bone Cooling Recovery Body Wash

Designed to be used after exercise, this body wash is packed full of essential oils such as peppermint, eucalyptus and menthol, to help cool down and speed up muscle recovery. Extracts like Maringa seed purify and cleans, while Oatmeal moisturises and refreshes, leaving you feeling clean, fresh and ready to tackle the day ahead.

I decided to try out this body wash after coming back from a 5km run and it left me feeling refreshed after. The mint and menthol made for a cooling shower that helped to loosen my muscles up, it lathered up nicely and left me feeling really clean.

Admiral Grooming Antioxidant Moisturising Balm

Rehydrate damaged and dry skin with this moisturising balm that has been formulated to lock in moisture and strengthen the skin, making it an essential during the cold winter months. Containing artichoke to regenerate the skin whilst diminishing any toxins.

I have dry skin so I am always on the lookout for any new moisturisers I can try out and see if they work for me. It comes in a handy pump dispenser and rubs into the skin easily leaving it feeling soft and supple. The balm has a light but pleasant smell and kept my skin from drying out for a long time.

Christopher Courtney London Men’s Prebiotic Aluminium and Alcohol Free Deodarant

A luxurious and natural antiperspirant deodorant which offers all the protection you need, without and of the harsh chemicals you would find in other commercial deodorants. An all-natural and gentle formulation that absorbs wetness, neutralizes odour, kills microorganisms, protects friendly bacteria, softens, moisturisers and nourishes the underarm skin.

This is the one product in this month’s box I was not initially sure about, I’m used to using my spray on antiperspirant but thought I would test out this roll-on deodorant. It has a mild herby citrus scent which is not as overpowering as some other antiperspirants I have used in the past. It kept my underarms dry throughout the day and I was surprised how well it worked. It might not be something I would use everyday but I will keep it in mind when looking for deodorants that do not containing any aluminium.

Morgan’s Pomade Hand Cream

Dry hands are a very common problem during the cold winter months. This gentle and soothing hand cream rehydrates dry and sensitive skin. Formulated using Argan oil, jojoba oil and extracts of lotus and silk proteins to create a rich moisturising and mildly fragranced hand cream

Working in a hospital I have to regularly wash my hands which can leave me with very dry and cracked skin, because of this I always make sure to keep some hand cream nearby and use it regularly. I have been using this hand cream over the past week and have found it to be great, it is easy to rub in and leaves my hands feeling soft. It also has a pleasing woody fragrance to it unlike some other creams I have used in the past which smell chemically. This is another product I will keep a look out for as I am going through the tube quite quickly.

Verdict

This month’s box is great value for money with the eye gel alone being worth what the subscription box itself costs! I always look forward to receiving my Toppbox and seeing what I have been sent and trying out all the new products, this month was no exception and I enjoyed using all the products this month and found them all to be really good and I like that the boxes are tailored and suitable for my skin.
