Spotlight Stationery Review By Hayley – December 2018

Hi all, back again with another amazing subscription box! This time it’s stationary with the fabulous Spotlight Stationary monthly subscription box! First of all, let me say a massive thank you to the lovely Mary over at Spotlight Stationary for sending me this great box to review, a fellow lover of pens and craft as am I.

Spotlight started with Mary and Rob wanting to further indulge their passion for all things paper, pens and all. They claim not to be able to walk past a stationers without going inside and leaving with a considerably lighter wallet! I can fully sympathise to be honest with you, I have a penchant for pens and pretty paper, I must admit and starting my new job I am using more than usual-great timing for me!

Each monthly, or bi-monthly box should you wish to choose contains specially curated collections of stationary items from well known brands and independant makers, all put together in a neat little box, and posted through your door-less hassle at the post office-perfect!

Also, if you have a family member or a friend that you know will adore this box as stationary addicts, there is also the option to send this as a gift to someone!

The theme of this months box became apparent as soon as I opened it up live on the group which you can re-watch here if you missed it (don’t forget to subscribe!).

So what was the theme?

One of my favourite colours, be it ice blue, baby blue or navy blue I love it. It has a calming affect on me-typical Pisces!

The Contents

Inside the box, which was delivered by Royal Mail, I found…

  • 4 beautiful art-print postcards and a postcard of the collection
  • 5 Ice blue smiley face binder clips
  • A super useful notebook
  • 3 different pens
  • A pack of Ice blue HB pencils x 10

Art Print postcards and collection postcard

Each of these cards are printed on high gloss card with standard postcard layout on the back; room for address, message and a stamp square. But it’s the front of the cards that say it all to me. A showcase of talented young illustrators. I think the seahorse is definitely my favourite of these.

5 Ice Blue Smiley Face Binder clips

These are fantastic for my new job! I have a lot of paperwork I have to keep together otherwise it gets confusing! These are secure, hold the papers tightly whether its 2 sheets together or 20! And the cute face on them cheers me right up!

Leuchtturm 1917 A5 123 page Soft Notebook

After seeing their products at the London Stationary Show, Mary decided to share their quality and vision with us all. This stunning soft covered notebook is absolutely perfect for people like me who would forget their head if it was detachable let alone parents evenings, school trip payments, dancing dates and judo competitions! 123 beautifully crafted pages of fine dot-grid paper, extra blank sheets and a SUPER USEFUL receipt/raffle ticket holder/bus ticket/appointment card holder built in at the back with 2 ribbon page markers and a secure elastic binder to keep your life in order and just the perfect size-and colour for my handbag. Absolutely LOVE IT. The RRP as well of this item alone is £12.95!

Leuchtturm 1917 10 pack HB Graphite pencils in ice blue

Stunning quality pre-sharpened pencils in this packet and I can tell there’s a huge difference between these and a standard pencil just from the few squiggles I’ve made. Each pencil retails for £1.50, so a pack of ten £15! My fiance Nick is an aspiring tattoo artist so I have given him some of these pencils to use to draw with.. his quote ‘brilliant quality and the graphite doesn’t move even when brushed, perfect drawing pencils!’.

Stabilo Sensor

Perfect for handwriting all my christmas cards, stylish and comfortable to hold, this fibre tip pen writes in blue ink. A stationary stash staple! My favourite part of the box hehe!

Kirarich Slimline glitter highlighter

This is a gorgeous ice blue shade of highlighter with the added wowwww! of sparkly silver glitter. I. Am. In. Love.

Zebra Sarasa Clip

Baby blue ink is the colour of the ink in this great pen. Easy to hold with a rubber grip and click function to stop the pen drying out. Fabulous!

The Cost

Each themed monthly, or bi-monthly box costs £25 plus £2 postage and packing. But with the code BOXESSION our readers can access an exclusive 10% off your first monthly or bi-monthly box only. Fantastic! European postage and even postage to the rest of the world is possible for £5.25 and £7.50 respectively.

To sum up…

I think this is an excellent stationary box and I will use all the things included, especially now my new job has so much writing and note taking, this is perfect for me! The notebook and the pencils alone exceed the cost of the box even without the discount so excellent value for money in my opinion, giving us a chance to discover new and luxury brands of stationary from all across the UK and the world. And the fact that the box can be gifted is also a bonus, and the plentiful contents means that the whole family can use and enjoy all the products too, I know my son Oliver has been eyeing up the pencils and Nick has a few already!
