Cosy Candles Review By Chloe – November 2018

I will start by admitting that I am a candle/wax melt addict so I am excited to be reviewing for Cosy Candles again. This box is perfect for people like me, who love to try new wax melt fragrances. After reviewing multiple boxes for them I can confirm their website is very easy to use and their social media pages always keep you up to date with any new deals and discounts! Why not give them a like or follow to see sneak peaks? All the wax melts are made from soy and handmade so every effort goes into putting the boxes together for you all to enjoy and indulge.

If you missed my live unboxing you can check it out here on our YouTube channel:

The box arrived via royal mail, letterbox sized too so I didn’t need to worry about being in to receive it, always a plus! The box came wrapped in a grey plastic waterproof package to prevent any damage to the box and its contents. The actual cosy candle box was white and tied with yellow string in a pretty bow. When I opened the box the first thing I pulled out was this month’s contents card, it has a brief description of this month’s scents and a list of the scents included. Covering the scents is bright yellow tissue paper held together with a pink sticker with the company’s logo on. I love the yellow tissue paper every month as it is a happy colour; I admire their packaging as it is simple but bright and cheery.

Inside each box are 6 different wax melts, I like this as it provides variety every month and you are likely to find new fragrances to fall in love with.

Contents:

  • Contents card
  • Using your cosy pods instruction card
  • Amber Noir wax melt
  • Rhubarb and Rose wax melt
  • Bonfire Night wax melt (glitter!)
  • Spruce and Peppermint wax melt
  • Winter Honeysuckle wax melt
  • Treacle Toffee wax melt

These melts are all 80 grams in size which is huge, the same size as the palm of my hand! I would say you can get at least 10 uses out of each wax melt. You can use them on their own or mix together 2 scents you really love to try something new.

Prices:

Each 80g melt retails at £3.99 making the box total to £23.96! To buy this box it would cost you £14.99 including delivery! Saving you £8.87 than if you were to buy them individually. This is the price for the standard cosy pod subscription box which is the one I received. This gives you approximately 480 hours of fragrance! It includes 6 handcrafted, surprise scents. However there are other options too if this doesn’t tickle your fancy.

They offer a mini melts subscription box which costs £9.99 including delivery. This box includes 28 x highly scented, hand poured, soy wax melts,   4 x different scents each month weighing 5g. This totals to approximately 140 hours of fragrance per box!

As well as these 2 boxes in which the scents are picked randomly you can subscribe to their customised boxes! They have the same 2 options of the cosy pod box with 6 different 80g melts or the mini melt box with 7 5g melts in 4 different scents. The customised boxes are priced at £16.99 for the cosy pod box. Or £11.99 for the mini melt box. Both boxes still save you money than if you were to buy the melts elsewhere or individually. If you go for these options it gives you a list of scents to choose from.

Subscribe to their newsletter to get your first box for £10.50 including delivery!!! This saves you £13.46 off the RRP!!!

How it works:

Your subscription will automatically renew each month on the date you sign up. You can expect to receive your box within 5-7 days of payment. Delivery is free and you can cancel your subscription at any time (no sooner than 7 days before your renewal date) so there’s no commitment needed. This is great as I know some months can be financially tough so this gives you the option to stop and start your subscription whenever you like. My experience with their customer service team has been brilliant so I am confident that if you have any queries the cosy candle team will be more than happy to help.

Time to see what my thoughts are on the scents:

Amber Noir was the first melt I tried this month and it is right up my street! It is a sweet musky scent with a hint of spice; I can smell notes of rich amber, jasmine and sandalwood. This unique mix is a scent made in heaven that is perfect for the upcoming autumn/winter months. I can’t wait to get more use out of this and possibly stock up on more.

Next to try was bonfire night; I couldn’t resist the name and sparkles! This is an intensely masculine fragrance that mixes a smoky leather scent with a creamy vanilla. I love the smell of men’s aftershave and that is what this melt smells like, it takes you away to bonfire nights spent with your partner wrapped up in scarves that hold their manly scent. Not only did this melt smell amazing it looks it too! Whilst melting the gold glitter flecks shine bright like the fireworks and sparklers of a true bonfire night.

The third wax melt was winter honeysuckle, this melt is a bright fern green colour to reflect its scent. If you have watched my live unboxing you will know I compared this to one of Justin Biebers discontinued fragrances. If you haven’t smelt it before don’t worry I will talk you through the notes now. The top notes of this winter honeysuckle melt are definitely fruity, I think I can smell juicy mandarin and some sort of wild berries. Next you are hit with the soft scent of jasmine and fresh flowers. It has base notes of musk and sandalwood which is why I am a sucker for this melt!

Treacle toffee is very fitting for this time of year and adds the sweetness to this month’s box! It smells of a delicious Christmas dessert. The creamy vanilla fudge scent will make your whole home smells of sweet goodness!

Next up was spruce and peppermint, another great variant. This is the fresh scent of this month producing a clean crisp peppermint smell mixed with a hint of spruce for that woody undertone. This is a melt I would use to start my weekend and give me that extra boost!

Last but not least was rhubarb and rose. This isn’t your typical rhubarb and custard scent as it mixes the fruitiness of rhubarb with floral rose. I would have never thought of mixing these two scents together but it truly creates an amazing smell. This is one for those of you who love a sweet floral fragrance.

Final thoughts:

Overall I think this box is convenient and amazing value for money with some great smelling wax melts. Considering the sizes of the wax melts and the 480 hours of fragrance you get I cannot fault them. The wax melts themselves are strong, but not overpowering, easy to use and cut into smaller pieces; they can be mixed together or used alone and come in reusable packaging. The fact that they are handmade highly scented, and soy wax melt means it is a great business to buy from. Cosy candles are continuously bringing out new fragrances which are exciting and I always look forward to the next month full of goodies. So what are you waiting for?! Go check out their website whilst there’s a discount code and order for yourself as a treat, or gift someone you love with a great subscription box, Christmas is only around the corner!
