Bakewell Box Review by Hayley – October 2018

Firstly, I would like to say a massive thank you to all the guys at Bakewell Box for sending me this fabulous box to review!

If you missed my live unboxing, you can rewatch it by clicking play below, and don’t forget to subscribe so you never miss an unboxing!

I do ‘have a go’ occasionally at baking, not always with the best results, but I try nonetheless! With that in mind, I was excited to review this box and it didn’t disappoint! Bakewell Box is healthy baking subscription box posted through your letterbox as well as being conveniently;

  • gluten-free
  • refined sugar free
  • wastage free
  • hassle free

All ingredients are pre weighed and measured out in individual sealed bags to  ensure zero wastage of food products, something I feel very strongly about.

Whats in the box?

Each box is small enough to fit through most standard size letter boxes, adding to the convenience. All I needed to add was a few fresh ingredients from my local supermarket (I spent just £2.55 on extra ingredients, I don’t believe it a good idea to post eggs!) but these were all everyday items and easy to find.

  • 2 recipe cards; this month, date and walnut chocolate truffles and carrot cake muffins-my favourite cake of all time so I was eager for these to be made first!
  • Self raising flour (gluten-free)
  • Muscavado sugar
  • Chopped dates
  • Walnuts
  • Mixed nuts
  • Cinnamon
  • Baking powder (gluten-free)
  • Raisins
  • 2 x 40g bars of dark chocolate
  • Cake tester

Carrot Cake Muffins

We decided to make the carrot cake muffins (well, I had decided anyway!) it took us approx 45 minutes from start to finish and they were super delicious. The cake tester came in very handy as we checked on them after baking. The instructions are super easy and clear to follow and every step as detailed as it can be.

I have decided to make the truffles in time for Halloween.

The Cost

Each Bakewell Box may be purchased as a one-off box, a rolling monthly subscription or pre paid for 3 or 6 months.

You can get 10% off in the month of October by using the code ‘BOXESSION’

Subscription Term Total cost inc p&p Cost per month
Rolling monthly £15 £15
3 months £42 £14
6 months £78 £13

And of course these can be gifted to friends and family, just select this option on their website! The price shown is for 2 kits per month.

In conclusion….

Nick and I really enjoyed baking the muffins and we are really looking forward to making the date truffles too at Halloween! The limited wastage and easy to follow instructions in this kit make it very appealing to me and had made me consider subscribing in the future.

Thank you for reading and all my love….
