Lazy Flora Review by Mel – September 2018

I would like to thank Claire, who owns Lazy Flora for this wonderful huge delivery of plants for my new garden!

I moved house last month, and our new home has a ginormous garden! We were having a chat and said it would be nice to put a flower bed in; to make it look beautiful. I know absolutely nothing about gardening, which makes this subscription perfect for someone like me.

It is a simple, affordable and easy way to transform any space; big or small.

The box arrived via UK Mail courier, next day delivery. I unboxed it within 2 hours of it arriving to ensure I could show these plants at their very best. The plants are well packaged and all of the packaging is fully recyclable.

If you missed my live unboxing, you can watch it back here on our YouTube Channel…

How much does it cost?

There are 2 levels of subscription with the outdoor plants.

Babylon contains 8-10 plants that are 9-10.5cm diameter, and up to 25cm height.

Eden contains 16 plants that are 9-13cm diameter, and up to 40cm height.

Prepay:

  • Babylon – £39
  • Eden – £72

Monthly:

  • Babylon – £13
  • Eden – £24

If you sign up to a 6 or 12-month subscription in advance, there’s a 5% or 10% discount respectively.

Shipping in the UK is FREE!

The discount code ‘BOXESSION5’ will take £5 off your first order too!

They also do an indoor plant subscription, keep your eyes peeled for a review on that one, I cannot wait!

What did I receive?

I received the 8 plant Babylon collection, their Autumn Candy Collection. It consisted of:

  • 1 x Ornamental Pepper Plant
  • 2 x Dusty Miller Plants
  • 1 x Festuca Glauca
  • 1 x Chysanthemum
  • 1 x Gaultheria
  • 1 x Aster
  • 1 x Cyclamen

The leaflet that comes with this subscription is so detailed and simple to follow. It has a step by step guide to planting up, the reason for the theme, and tips on plant care. You can even email Claire directly for extra tips and advice.

She emailed me after the unboxing to help me with some questions I had too, you really do get an all round personal service. You definitely would not get that from buying from a garden centre!

How did we get on?

We had a fair bit to do, as we dug out a half-moon shape area, and put a wooden border in. We also had to treat the soil, then wait for it to settle before adding a top layer of compost. We are currently working hard to grow the grass as there was none at all left in that area.

The planting was the easy part, we just arranged the 8 plants where we wanted them to go, dug small holes, depotted them and put them in. Honestly that part took around 10 minutes maximum.

The Results

Being total novices, I have to say that we are pretty proud of how this has turned out…

It is totally transformed! My favourite ones are the Cyclamen, and the Ornamental Pepper plant. They are both so bright and welcoming.

The Chrysanthemum is also a delight, bushy and full or flowers.

Our Verdict?

I was already considering buying this plant subscription, after I realised just how expensive and confusing it is going to the Garden Centre and having to try to buy your own! In honesty I got a bit fed up and overwhelmed and left, then I remembered one of our fellow Bloggers Sam reviewing this earlier in the year.

Would we buy this? Absolutely! £13 a month for this is a steal, go and add up how much all of those would cost you to buy, then the time taken to research, the stressful shopping with 2 children. It is worth the cost and more. This gets delivered directly to your door 4 times a year, you don’t even have to remember anything.

Of course we do now have to maintain our lovely flower bed, but seeing the results will inspire me to. I am actually excited about gardening for the first time in my life and it is all thanks to Lazy Flora.

Don’t forget to use the discount code ‘BOXESSION5’ for £5 off your order, the Website is below and also the links to their Social Media.

Thank you again, you have converted me to a green fingered goddess, well maybe not the goddess part, ha!
