SoakBox Review by Jen – April 2018

Firstly I’d like to say a very big thank you to the lovely Sarah for sending me her amazing April Soakbox to review.  I decided to be a nice mum and in the spirit of giving, allowed the whole family to trial these amazing delights!

What is Soakbox?

Soakbox is a subscription box full of beautiful bath bombs, bubble bars and themed extras.  A recent newcomer to the subscription market, it guarantees a minimum of 5 items in each box.  We’re not talking tester size either, these are amazing full sized products. Soakbox are very much capturing the current feel of consumers and subscribers by ensuring their products are not only cruelty free but also environmentally friendly, including using recyclable packaging.

All products are also paraben free, microbead free, SLS free, vegan friendly and palm oil free.

How much will I Pay?

There are currently two subscription options, all with postage and packaging included in the price.

  • Monthly – recurring payment of £19.95
  • Bi Monthly – one off payment of £110 saving £10

You can also choose to purchase a one off box, particularly useful if you’re interested but not ready to commit to a subscription just yet.  A one off box can be purchased for just £20.95, including postage and packaging. After taking a sneaky peek at the website I was also delighted to see a Baby Soakbox, priced at £19.95. Containing three items to help your beautiful bundle relax before bedtime, completely free from any irritants, leaving your little one ready for sleep time.

When will it arrive?

Boxes are dispatched between the 8th-10thof each month, calendar depending. Delivered by Royal Mail 2ndclass parcel service, you should receive your boxful of surprises within 2-3 working days (as advised by Royal Mail).

What’s inside?

If you watched my live unboxing you will have seen how impressed I was with this months selection of bath time treats!  In this months box I received 3 bath bombs, one of which was an amazing Dragon Egg.  A bath melt, bubble shot and soap bar left no doubt that this months box was an Easter/Confectionery theme!

Chocolate Orange Bath Bomb

This bath bomb reminds me of one of my favourite sweets…….can you guess which one??

The sweet orange scent, combined with the rich chocolate notes, make this a must for bath time!  I love the fact that majority of the products contain shea butter, it leaves my skin feeling so soft and not dried out like some products can.

Toasted Marshmallow Bubble Shot

Wow!  I was excited to try this item after reading the insert whilst unboxing, rightly so!

The bubbles which foam up underneath the bubble shot are surprising for such a small item, I was pleasantly surprised!  The toasted marshmallow scent was luxurious and relaxing, the addition of shea butter leaving my skin enveloped in softness.  This is one of my favourite items from this months box.

Key Lime Doughnut Bath Bomb

I absolutely adore this item – colourful, playful and childlike!

The fruitiness of this bath bomb filled my bathroom with a fresh and zingy scent, turning the bath into a child’s dream – my sons to be precise.  As soon as his eyes clocked this item his immediate response was that it was his for his bath that very evening!  I really like items such as this, it makes the box playful and also something which can be shared with the family.

Cookie Dough Bath Melt

The concentrate of cocoa butter within this small but mighty bath melt leaves your skin feeling and smelling beautiful!  Soakbox recommend this item lasts for approximately 2-3 baths, I managed to use for 2 baths but that was purely choice.  I’ve used bath melts previously and found them to be a little on the greasy side, seemingly leaving my bath and skin feeling horrible – not this little marvel however!

Chocolate & Mallow Soap Bar

I’ve openly stated that I’m not a fan of soap bars,  purely by choice and unpleasant memories of slimy soap bars from school sinks!  Well, Soakbox has managed to sway me somewhat with their sweet themed bar – I love chocolate and bath products so what better way to tempt me??

This rich, chocolatey, mallow bar lathers up beautifully and leaves skin smelling so tasty!

Dragon Egg Bath Bomb – Dragons Blood

I’ve saved the very best until last!  For those who watched the live unboxing, you will know I was excited to try this product. I’d seen pictures of these eggs and loved them, even watching one being dissolved to see the real-time effect online. Anyone in doubt, these are A-MAZING!

The colour that came from this dragon egg was immense – it looked like a scene from a horror movie! Deep red, blue and brown hues filled the bath tub and left me amazed at how intense the colour truly was.  This bath bomb didn’t disappoint and I’m so glad it was featured in this months box.

Is it worth it?

The products within Soakbox, when postage is deducted, equate to £2.84 per item.  When compared to leading high street branded products this is an average saving of approximately £1.00 – £1.50 per item, £6.00 – £9.00 total saving.  For anyone who who loves bath bombs, this box is a perfect choice.  The array of differing products is very good value for money, each month consisting of a different theme ensuring no two boxes are the same.  Soakbox continues to prove how successful a bath time treat can truly be!
