Basic Beauty Box Review by Michelle – August 2017

Like the majority of BoXession members I’m a massive bargain hunter, but sometimes I just don’t have the time to trawl through all the discount stores trying to shop around for the best deals. I also find that when shopping online for deals you can end up spending more than you wanted to, just to reach the minimum price for free delivery. Basic Beauty Box aims to cut out these issues by providing you with a box for all your basic toiletry needs at a bargain price.
We all love receiving boxes of luxury beauty goods, but I don’t know anyone who doesn’t need to buy the more ‘boring’ basic beauty and toiletry items like toothpaste and shower gel. Basic Beauty Box lets you pick exactly what you are going to receive in your box, so you can make sure you don’t run out of the basics and end up spending more than you want to.
When lovely Shan at Basic Beauty Box sent me the email containing the link to the page where I was able to pick what items were going to be in my box; I was pleasantly surprised with the range of items available me to choose from. There was everything I could need sanitary items, shower gels, deodorants, shampoos and conditioners and oral health care items. All the items are full sized and from well-known brands including, Nivea, Simple and Aussie. It was really difficult for me to choose what items I wanted in my box, so I went for things I was running low on that I love, and one thing I have wanted to try a while.
The item I’d wanted to try for a while, but not wanted to pay out for in case they rubbish was the Wisdom Flossers. I like to take care of my oral health and regularly floss, but it can be awkward at times trying to get regular floss between my teeth (sorry TMI). These handy little flossers have a piece floss held taught on a plastic handle and make it quick and easy to floss. The other side of the handle can also be used as a toothpick, and the floss has a lovely minty taste. This is definitely something I plan to buy again.
When I was choosing the items for my box, I instantly knew I had to pick the next two items as soon as I saw them. It really annoys me when you receive either just a shampoo or conditioner in a sub box, as I like to use matching haircare products, after all this is how they are designed to be used. I was thrilled to be able to pick both the Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo and Conditioner to go in my box. I love everything about this stuff; it leaves my hair feeling soft and silky and smells absolutely divine. Aussie is usually a quite expensive product for the size of bottle it comes in so I don’t buy it as often as I’d like to (basically because I’m tight).
The last item I chose for my box was the Original Source Shower Gel in Lime scent. I chose item as a little treat for my husband, and loves Original Source shower gels, and often gets disappointed that there isn’t anything for him in my sub boxes. I love that Original Source is organic and suitable for vegans, while smelling lush. The lime scent isn’t I’ve tried before, but I’ll definitely be buying it again as I love the citrus zing which is suitable for all genders.
Overall, I’m really happy with my choices, and I love the concept of Basic Beauty Box. It’s perfect for bargain hunters, people with little time on their hands, and anyone unable to get out to the shops. I’m definitely going to be adding Basic Beauty Box to my ever-growing list of boxes I subscribe to.
My box was delivered by Royal Mail, and arrived in a black plastic postal bag. Unfortunately, as happens sometimes, one corner of the box arrived a bit bashed, but this did not affect the items inside. The box itself is brown card with cute white spots all over it and red Basic Beauty Box Logo on the top.
